Sophomore Maddie Lipp made her NCAA Singles Championship debut Tuesday against Florida’s Belinda Woolcock. No. 16 seed Lipp came into the match being the only player for Northwestern chosen for the Singles Championship tournament. In a tooth-and-nail matchup, No. 9 seed Woolcock was able to best Lipp in two tiebreak sets, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (7).

Despite the singles loss, Lipp has not yet finished her postseason run as she will be competing in the doubles tournament alongside sophomore Alex Chatt for a chance to take home the doubles championship. The pair will play their first round match against Mississippi State’s Madison Harrison and Kristin Vozniak.
