The Daily is back in publication today, which means our coverage of fall sports is in full swing as the school year begins.

Headlining our first day of print for the fall…

  • Tim Balk recapped football’s big win over Duke, getting the team to 1-2 on the season in the class of 2020’s first game in attendance.
  • Bobby Pillote takes a look at the highs and lows of Clayton Thorson’s performance Saturday, which proved to be enough to pull out the win.
  • Garrett Jochnau writes about women’s soccer’s victory over Purdue, its ninth-straight to start the season.
  • Aidan Markey reviews the weekend in Northwestern volleyball, as new coach Shane Davis and his team won two of three games in a tournament hosted by Northern Iowa

There will be 306 gold medals awarded at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and this time around, a Wildcat has a real shot to claim one. Cole Paxton takes an in-depth look at Jordan Wilmovsky, a world-champion distance swimmer out of Northwestern who will be going for gold this summer.
